Complete Application
Applicant will complete the City of LaPrairie Building Permit Application which is available
either at City Hall or on our website.

Fee Calculation
The LaPrairie City Clerk will contact the LaPrairie Building Official/Zoning Administrator for
approval. After approval, Permit Fees are calculated and collected at the City of LaPrairie City
Hall.

Permit Issued
The Building Permit will be issued by the City of LaPrairie at the City Hall.

Permits are not required for the following items:
- Painting, wall papering, ceramic tile and similar wall finishes
- Carpeting and other floor coverings including wood floors
- Cabinets, Countertops and Vanities (sink requires building permit)
- Gutters and downspouts, window wraps, and soffit and fascia
- Window awnings supported by the exterior wall of the dwelling
- Decks, landings and unroofed porches not more than 30 inches above grade and not structurally connected to the dwelling (requires Zoning Approval)
- Fences (requires Zoning Approval)
- New driveway (requires Zoning Approval) or driveway resurfacing
- Adding attic insulation
- Patios, private sidewalks, and replacement of non-structural garage floors
- Retaining walls that are not over four feet in height from the bottom of the footing to the top of the wall
- One story tool and storage sheds, playhouses and similar uses not exceeding 200 square feet (requires Zoning Approval)
